Following the conclusions reached during the third meeting of the National Trade Facilitation Committee, held in May 2017, a joint information session with the General Directorate of Customs was organized on the new provisions of the Customs Code.
This briefing session acquainted the participants with latest developments as a consequence of the entry into force of the provisions of the Customs Code. Representatives of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Customs Agents Association, the German Embassy, Business Representatives etc. attended this session. This meeting also enabled a dialogue between government and business institutions to get to know more about the new legal changes, as well as to discuss the current problematic issues.
Representatives of the General Directorate of Customs explained that the new Customs Code further approximates European customs procedures and provides further facilities for Albanian exporters. On the other hand, some concepts were clarified as the Authorized Economic Operator, local clearance procedures, simplified declaration, preferential tariff treatment, customs warehousing and temporary storage.
In order to better accommodate the business community, organization of similar meetings was agreed to be held in the upcoming months. For this purpose, a calendar of information sessions will be prepared on the procedures of the new Customs Code, by the Ministry of Economic Development, Tourism, Trade and Entrepreneurship through the National Trade Facilitation Committee and the General Directorate of Customs, Customs Agencies and businesses according to their need.
