The Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA 2006) is a modern and inclusive regional free trade agreement, designed as an integral part of the pre-accession agenda in the European Union. The states that have signed this free trade agreement are: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia and Kosovo. Three signatory states of this Accession, Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania, are already members of the European Union. The CEFTA agreement foresees a significant liberalization of trade in goods.
CEFTA countries represent Albania's important partners in international trade. For 2016 trade exchanges with CEFTA countries account for 8.6% of the volume of international trade. Exports to CEFTA countries represent 13.6% of total exports and imports represent 6.6% of total imports. The main trading partners are: Kosovo, Serbia and Macedonia. The most exported products are: construction materials, fruit vegetables, fason products, etc. Te most imported products are electricity, cereals and flour, wood and plastic materials, etc.

Industrial products originating in Albania can be exported to CEFTA countries without a customs duty (Annex 2 of the Agreement). Different CEFTA member countries put to Albania trade concessions for agricultural products according to Annex 2.
Each exported product must comply with the basic product safety requirements stemming from the requirements of technical regulations, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, and other requirements related to product safety.
The export product is eligible to receive a preferential tariff in each country of CEFTA with one condition to fulfill the rules of origin and to receive EUR1 certificate issued by the Albanian customs authorities.
